[What the role is]

DEPUTY / ASSISTANT MANAGER, MEDIA RELATIONS

[What you will be working on]

We are looking for a creative and dynamic professional to join the team to manage the corporate reputation of LTA by communicating appropriate messages and information on LTA’s policies and initiatives to the public through the mass media. You will develop and execute media communication strategies and plans for LTA’s initiatives and policies so as to maximise publicity outcomes and deepen public awareness and understanding of our public transport strategies and planning considerations.
- Initiate consultation with divisions to propose publicity angles that can be communicated to the public
- Monitor and forecast the development of LTA projects and policies so as to identify and plan suitable opportunities for proactive and reactive publicity
- Develop and prepare communication materials, such as news releases, presentations, and factsheets to effectively communicate LTA’s initiatives and policies to the media
- Plan, pitch and facilitate media stories and interviews that help to communicate LTA’s publicity messages clearly and effectively
- Develop and foster relationships between internal stakeholders and the media so that the media can better understand the scope of LTA’s policies and work
- Conduct proactive media cultivation and facilitate media access including on-site media management, press conferences and media tours
- Advise and support LTA departments by providing communications guidance in managing media issues and queries
- Monitor and analyse prevailing public sentiments on LTA policies and initiatives to identify communications gaps between the public perception and LTA’s positions
- Develop, anticipate and prepare public positions and responses to queries from the media on LTA’s initiatives and policies
- Identify potential gaps in the public’s perception of LTA’s initiatives and policies and propose necessary communication activities to bridge these gaps
- Initiate consultation with divisions to develop crisis communications plans and suitable communication strategies to mitigate potential risks.

[What we are looking for]
- Tertiary Qualification in Journalism, Mass Communications, English or any related discipline with at least 5 years’ experience in a media or PR organisation, with relevant experience in media relations
- Experience in crisis communications will be preferred
- Interest in content creation and social media will be advantageous
- Good written, verbal and presentation skills
- Good awareness of current affairs and interest in land transport issues
- Ability to understand policies and highlight possible public concerns
- Ability to comprehend and distil complicated policies in order to explain them to the general public
