Job Summary

This position reports to the EHS Manager. The Workplace Safety & Health Officer directs and coordinates Environment, Health and Safety activities to ensure the well being of Associates, Contractors and Company’s compliance to legal requirement.

Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Plant Management and Leadership Team with implementation of Safety Plans, Training Plans, Safety Meetings, Audits & Inspections, Investigations and other related tasks on the Site to ensure a environmentally friendly, healthy & safe workplace
- Maintain Occupational Injury & Illness Rates to a benchmark level and striving to reduce it by driving continuous improvement initiatives / activities (e.g. Safety Culture & Behavior)
- Identify and assess any foreseeable risk arising from the workplace or work processes with regards to EHS, providing timely input in the Risk Analysis and providing measures to the Department to minimise / eliminate them
- Perform required compliance audits / inspections, WSHC inspection, daily safety and fire safety, security rounds
- Conduct Safety / BioSafety compliance training to Employees, Contractors & Visitors
- Lead investigation into every serious accident and support other incident investigations and dangerous occurrences or occupational disease that occurred within the workplace
- Review and approve hazardous work permits (i.e. confined space, hot work)
- Review and develope EHS procedures to ensure all procedures developed meet the relevant legal and Corporate requirement
- Evaluate current EHS & BioSafety processes to ensure compliance as per Singapore WSH Standards and BATA requirements Lead the WSH / BioSafety Committee Meeting and sharing of EHS / BioSafety information within the Committee
- Assist the Chairman in planning and directing the functions of Workplace Safety & Health Committee / BioSafety Committee and preside at all meetings of the Workplace Safety & Health Committee / BioSafety Committee in the absence of the Chairman, Dy Chairman and EHS Manager
- Lead ISO 14001 accountability to ensure an environmentally-friendly workplace, including Waste Disposal Program
- Lead internal audit on a bi-annual basis to meet ISO 14001 external audit and report findings & corrective actions to be taken
- Organize EHS / BioSafety initiatives, training courses (i.e. LOTO, HazComm) & competitions to develop and enhance Associates engagement (i.e. Safety Day, Safety Slogans, Behavior Based Safety)
- Improve Associate's perception, engagement, recognition of at-risk behaviors and commitment in the EHS / BioSafety processes
- Ensure emergency response equipment meets safety compliance requirements and at readiness state
- Supervising and coordinating all functions of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) including annual Emergency Evacuation Drills, Emergency Response Drills, Table Top Exercises and Bi-annual ERT trainings
- Educate Associates in establishing a fire safe environment and provide basic training in fire fighting and rescue -Assist / coordinate / liaise with SCDF / FSSD on fire protection activities
- Monitor and track progress closely to ensure the successful implementation of EHS / BioSafety initiatives or corrective actions
- Set and monitor ISO 14000 yearly targets and goals
- Share all findings and corrective actions with regards to EHS, BioSafety, Fire Safety & Security
- Provide technical assistance with Global EHS notifications and timely reporting
- Coordinate and input Site's Monthly Safety Information reporting requirements
- Coordinate incident reporting to the Government bodies (e.g. Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Health etc)
