We are working with a global commodity trading business that is looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel as its business is experiencing significant growth. This position will report directly to the Group General Counsel. The coverage will be regional, and you will be part of a global team of international lawyers.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Provide effective, expert and timely advice of the laws and regulations applicable to (i) the trading activities of the Singapore office, and (ii) the products traded out of the Singapore office;
- Manage the provision of external legal support, including the appointment and management of external legal counsel;
- Provide performance and client-driven service in the resolution of legal and regulatory issues taking into account the business needs, and contribute to solutions;
- Review, draft and maintain standard documentation for the trading desks;
- Keep up-to-date with the latest legal, regulatory and case law developments with respect to corporate, labour, commodities, environmental and commercial laws affecting traders and operators, inform and educate both traders and operators;
- Managing disputes (including litigation and arbitration) with counterparties, consultants and ship-owners, including trade and shipping-related claims;
- Review, draft and provide assistance in negotiating the terms and conditions of credit facilities, security and collateralisation agreements;
- Contribute to knowledge and document management, training and standard form documents.

**Requirements**:

- More than 7 years post qualified experience in a similar role in a trading house, energy company or law firm, preferably called to the bar in a common law jurisdiction;
- Specialised experience in international trade, shipping and dispute resolution, and good understanding of company and commercial laws and commodities contracts;
- Excellent communications skills and able to communicate and work with individuals of different background and cultures;
- Skills to manage multiple work activities and provide support and counsel to the trading, finance, contracts and operations divisions
