The Public Equity (EQ) department pursues active management strategies in equity investing. We invest globally and are organised along product groups specialising in different geographies.
**Climate Strategist**
- Grow the Equities Department’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) effort by providing expertise in the analysis of climate change trends and its impact on Equities. This includes (but is not limited to): regulatory trends in this field such as emissions trading schemes, “Climate Clubs”, carbon border taxes, RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates) and carbon credits; global and regional developments in climate change; and the extent and the impact of corporate decisions on climate change.
- Map out macro climate trends globally/regionally and analyse the impact on our portfolios, and providing advice on risk mitigation and opportunities for our portfolios.
- Provide guidance for GIC to assume technical leadership in the topics of country and corporate climate change strategies, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting (or other climate change metrics as climate change metrics evolve) and climate change mitigation solutions.
- Work with our Equities Active Engagement Team on how to approach or advise our portfolio companies.
- Build contacts with climate solutions specialists, NGOs, and Government bodies with responsibilities in climate change.
- Monitor developments in climate change issues, international compliance and country specific regulator developments.
- Understand the impact of new/innovative climate change products and services.
- Analyse the Environmental Scenario Analyses provided by our Economics and Strategy and Risk Departments to assess the probability of these scenarios and the impact on our investments.
- Assist our Equities Teams in carbon stress testing of our fundamental valuations under various carbon price scenarios.
