**Purpose of the role**:
To proactively adjust claims, arising out of business written in Singapore in a professional, timely and fair manner and to ensure that you deliver excellent customer service to both our internal and external customers. This will be in accordance with the claims vision: “_to continually push the boundaries of customer excellence through an empowered, collaborative and innovative approach to claims; to be the envy of the market_”, whilst always demonstrating and upholding the Canopius claims values.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Claims management:_

You must always comply with the Claims Manual, Procedures, and your Claims Authority Limit. You are empowered to handle claims and are responsible for the decisions made during assessment and managing of a claim, the financial provisions made in respect of a claim and the outcome of that claim. The concept of ownership of claims and a claims portfolio is a fundamental aspect of responsibility and accountability.

You will deliver high performance and achieve this through:

- Correctly assessing claims in accordance with the policy terms and conditions; and where any potential coverage issue is identified, obtain full details prior to reaching a firm decision on policy coverage.
- Ensuring that adequate financial provisions, in accordance with the Canopius Reserving Philosophy are held for every claim that you are responsible for.
- Ensure that the rationale for the reserve is recorded in the claims management system and that the reserve is communicated both internally and externally as appropriate.
- Seeking authority, in accordance with the Claims Manual, where a claim exceeds Claims Authority Limit.
- Ensure every claim is regularly reviewed and proactively managed to resolution, through effective diary management and ensuring potential financial exposure are captured accurately.
- Making clear, comprehensive, and meaningful notes on the claims management system.
- Ensuring that all the claims that you own that are recorded on the Actuarial Watchlist are regularly monitored and the Watchlist is updated on a quarterly basis.
- Reviewing the actual versus expected ahead of monthly tracking meetings and quarterly reserving meetings and discussing claims trends which may impact profitability with the Claims Manager.
- Providing high quality narratives for the weekly movement and divisional claims reports.
- Managing your claims in accordance with the Claims team KPIs and proactively flagging where you are unable to meet KPI targets.
- In the event of any customer dissatisfaction, ensuring that the Canopius Complaints Process is followed.
- Horizon scanning - keep abreast of matters likely to impact your claims portfolio or relevant sectors and sharing information with your Claims Manager and Divisional Head of Claims.
- Collaboration_**:

- You will act as a claim referral point for brokers and other external customers and proactively ensure regular interaction with them.
- You are responsible for ensuring that claims are managed in accordance with the Canopius Claims Values, ensuring effective oversight of the portfolio via regular reporting on KPIs, Peer Reviews and sharing of best practice.
- You will work collaboratively with any of our outsource partners, including Shared Services who contribute to the handling of claims within your portfolio.
- Where external experts (lawyers, adjusters etc) are instructed, you are responsible for their management to ensure best outcomes whilst controlling costs and reducing claims leakage.
- You will ensure close, proactive, and collaborative working with Underwriters and Actuaries.
- You will work closely with the Claims Manager to monitor the profitability of the account and report areas of your claims portfolio that are underperforming to Underwriters, Actuaries, and management.
- You will provide technical advice and support to junior members within the Team.
- You will partner with the wider Canopius Claims team where there are areas of overlap, to share relevant information and actively contribute to projects.
- You will proactively participate in initiatives and projects, when required.
- You will seek better ways of doing things and suggest processes or other changes to your Claims manager or Divisional Head of Claims, where appropriate.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Experiences in Lloyds market.
- Fundamental knowledge of coverages, benefits, and exclusions of Marine Hull.
- Experiences in handling at least 2 other classes of business such as Cargo, Property, Construction, Engineering, Energy, will be an added advantage.
