**Job Overview**
As a Robot Arm Manipulator Engineer at our startup, you will play an instrumental role in designing and developing the robot arm's capabilities, enabling it to utilize various cleaning tools and end effectors to perform a wide range of cleaning tasks, including spraying, scrubbing, wiping, lifting toilet seats, and more.
**Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand cleaning requirements and identify suitable robot arm manipulators based on their mechanical specifications, reach, and payload capacity.
- Develop and implement the necessary code and control algorithms for the selected robot arms, ensuring seamless integration with the overall system.
- Design and engineer planning algorithms to enable the robot arm to execute precise and efficient cleaning motions, adapting to different toilet features and their unique geometries.
- Integrate advanced sensors and vision systems into the robot arm's functionalities to enable accurate positioning and recognition of various cleaning targets.
- Implement safety mechanisms and collision detection features to ensure the robot arm operates safely in dynamic environments, preventing any accidental contact with users and obstacles.
- Conduct rigorous testing and simulations to validate the robot arm's performance and optimize its cleaning capabilities in real-world scenarios.
- Work closely with software engineers to develop intuitive user interfaces and control systems for operators to interact with and supervise the robot arm during cleaning operations.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to explore and integrate cleaning tools and end effectors into the robot arm's functionalities.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in robotic arm technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance the robot's cleaning efficiency and adaptability.
- Participate in team meetings, project planning, and provide technical expertise to continuously improve the overall performance and reliability of the robot arm.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and similar, and experience with robotic frameworks (e.g., ROS) is essential.
- Knowledge of robotic kinematics, dynamics, and control techniques, with a focus on multi-degree-of-freedom robotic arms.
- Familiarity with vision systems, sensors, and perception technologies to enable object recognition and tracking during cleaning tasks.
- Experience in developing safety mechanisms and collision detection algorithms for safe human-robot interaction.
- Hands-on experience with robotic hardware and actuator selection.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating innovative solutions that advance the field of robotics.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A keen interest in robotics and automation, combined with a drive to make a positive impact by revolutionizing public restroom cleanliness.
