Singapore Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Full time

This role is a strategic advisory role to support clients’ business with professional advice especially in ESG related matters such as financing, client’s strategy etc. to generate business opportunities for both customers and the bank.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support ESG-related discussions with clients while communicating with Relationship Managers (RMs) of Japanese and Korean companies in APAC and RMs at headquarters in Japan and Korea, to enable SMBC to find business opportunities.
- Develop a system to enable RMs of Japanese and Korean companies in the APAC region to hold ESG-related discussions with clients through workshops and the preparation of general materials, and plan how to promote such discussions.
- Update various ESG-related information through continuous communication with the ESG Solutions team in APAC and Sustainability related departments in Japan.
- Seek ESG solutions and plan new ESG products to offer to Japanese and Korean clients in the APAC region.
- Enhance the collaboration between Japanese and Non-Japanese clients
- Establish a good communication channel with regional corporate banking business teams inside and outside Singapore, and coordinate various initiatives, meetings or daily exercise as requested.
- Take charge of administering, managing, and improving overall administrative affairs in the office.
- Strive to develop better relationship in the office, stimulate morale
- Develop and implement plans for education and training for subordinates, and provide guidance on and supervise performance of duties thereof

**Job Requirements**
- Graduate degree from university
- Strong written & verbal communication skills in English
- Minimum 10 years Banking & Finance experience.
- Around 2 years or more of ESG related business experience
- Leading and managing a small team.
- Engaged in Corporate Banking
- Derive a pareto optimization between profits and resources
- To demonstrate strategic and creative thinking in their area of business.
- To have a strong appreciation of the inherent risks that are involved in achieving goals
- To propagate in their team a compliance first mind set
- Ability to manage change
- Strong planning and organizational capabilities
- Effective time management skills
- Analytical mindset and ability to enable process implementation
- To build and nurture relationships at all levels
- To ensure adherence to laid down risk and compliance frameworks
- Ability to articulate the right goals, set priorities and benchmarks
- Proficiency in Japanese is advantageous as this role requires presenting and communicate to Japanese corporate clients whose main language is Japanese. This role also needs to prepare and present reports in Japanese
- Good understanding of ESG trend
- Good understanding of the functioning of various departments / teams in the organization
- In depth understanding of the risk environment in which the bank operates
- In depth understanding of the regulatory framework in which the bank operates
