**Social & Health Sciences**

The Head of School is responsible for the effective management of the School, including providing academic leadership and strategic vision and ensuring quality of student experience. Reporting to the **Dean of Academic Services**, the responsibilities of the Head of School include:

- Provide academic and administrative leadership to the School in teaching and learning, and ensure outstanding academic standards for academic programmes in line with Kaplan’s vision, mission and values.
- Monitor and maintain student success rates at all levels in relation to established benchmarks.
- Periodically review the School’s internal programmes to ensure continued relevance and to drive continuous improvement of the curriculum.
- Evaluate and review the School’s teaching materials to ensure adequate coverage of individual course learning outcomes.
- Ensure adequate adoption and quality of online teaching and learning strategies that support both synchronous and asynchronous online teaching.
- Oversee the operational management of partnership programmes offered in collaboration with Kaplan’s overseas partner institutions.
- Manage the School’s administrative resources to ensure optimal use of shared resources within the institution.
- Oversee the adoption of outstanding quality assurance processes that promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the management of the School’s physical facilities and equipment, including exploring and identifying the technical resources required to achieve academic outcomes, ensuring facilities and equipment compliance with relevant health and safety requirements etc.
- Ensure adequate academic manpower is available to meet the School’s teaching and student support needs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, and create a supportive working environment that staff can thrive in and foster their career growth and development.
- Assign and monitor the teaching workloads for all academic staff members within the School, in accordance with Individual and Department Work Plans.
- Periodically run workshops for academic staff to share best practices and develop institutional knowledge.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons at various levels of tertiary education to a minimum of 200 hours annually.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirement:

- A doctorate in a relevant academic discipline.
- Substantial experience in management and leadership of staff, department, discipline or programme.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of key issues in teaching and learning.
- Good teaching record and faculty management experience.
- Good knowledge of the education industry and CPE rules and regulations.
- Is meticulous, analytical and resourceful, with the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Has strong negotiating, persuasion and influencing skills.
