The Role:
The Relationship Manager will play an integral role in growing and maintaining Lord Abbett’s business in Japan. This individual’s responsibility is centralized in supporting existing accounts including day to day operation, performance review, client communication and new business developments. In this centralized role, the individual will work closely with Lord Abbett’s U.S. based employees. The person is also required to have various communications with prospect clients in Japan, mainly Japanese licensed investment managers and distributors. This person also needs to work with Japanese legal counsel and corporate tax advisor to maintain corporate registration and FSA license for Lord Abbett Asia LLC Japan branch. The position requires outstanding teamwork and collaboration with a strong emphasis on the ability to work closely with multiple departments throughout the organization, including international client management, investment strategists, product, marketing, legal, operations and finance.

Weâll trust you to:

- Be a dedicated and trusted single point of contact for all existing clients in Japan
- Focus on proactive engagement with existing clients to retain and deepen relationships
- Liaise day to day communication between clients and Jersey City or Ireland.
- Partner with Investment Strategists to deliver our value proposition and provide strategy insights
- Marketing and sales support for clients’ communication to final investors
- Pursue cross selling opportunities partner with Investment Strategists outside Japan
- Partner with Digital Services to drive operational efficiencies
- Partner with Digital Services and Marketing to maintain Japanese website
- Provide a client service experience that exceeds expectations

- Host due diligence meetings and other on-sites
- Liaise legal and finance departments with legal counsel and tax advisor in Japan

You'll need to have:

- 10 - 15 years of work experience in industry
- Cultural backgrounds both in U.S. and Japan
- Bilingual in English and Japanese with strong written communication skills in Japanese
- High degree of self-motivation and sense of urgency
- Proactive, collaborative team player
- Ability to organize, plan and manage several concurrent initiatives with varying priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and follow-up skills
- Resourceful with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong desire to learn and grow industry knowledge
- Ability to think analytically and problem solve
- Real ambition to pursue a client-facing career
