**This position is for Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL), a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited.**
**Major Responsibilities**
- Act as the interface between the Team and Finance and Accounting (F&A), develop implementation plans associated with strategic initiatives rolled out by F&A in association with other Team Business Analyst’s.
- Take ownership of financial aspects of vessels’ life cycle management and working with other managers (principally Technical Managers) to develop appropriate budget plans and budgets. Provide financial input to the following major initiatives:
- Annual budgets.
- Capital modifications.
- Dry-docking.
- Strategic projects.
- Other key events.
- Work with the GM to ensure alignment of actual expenses with budgets and if there are deviations create plans to make realign to budget or manage the forecasting process to ensure the reports are built around sound commercial assumptions.
- Using financial indicators, trends and models, identify opportunities for cost savings. Manage their implementation in order to increase Business profitability and develop the financial strategy and policies accordingly.
- Work with the Ship Team to create the annual financial planning activities and budgets in line with the annual budget timetable. Present the performance against budgets to the management team, identify and address gaps in performance or overspend and agree with the Ship Team (ensuring their ownership of responsibility) the methods for getting back on track.
- Partnering and supporting proper accounting practices in areas such as cash, Lube-oil stock, provision stock submitted by the vessels and accruals on periodic basis. Preparing account schedules and reconciliations to support financial balances.
- Ensure vessel financial results are in compliance with and adherence to company accounting policies.
- Prepare insurance claims working with Insurance group and the Team.
- Prepare financial reports and schedules for owners of managed vessels.
- Develop and promote best practices within the ship team and other Commercial Analysts.
- Work with Managers within the team to perform various project analyses (Cost/benefit, performance, financial etc.).
- Review Vessel budgets with visiting masters and chief engineers and drive ownership of budgets to vessels.
- Proactively review financial information, taking action to correct any adverse trends. Highlight financial areas of concern to Managers.
- Possess an accountancy degree. 3 years of finance experience with a sound knowledge of financial practices, modelling and reporting standards. Experience of change management and project management with introducing new finance systems and processes is desirable.
- Data administration experience.
- Ship management experience.
- Familiar with business process and plan maintenance ABS system.
- Proactive and dynamic approach. Provide innovative solutions to problem solving and process improvements; Take the initiative to address problems and follow through, working closely and collaboratively with all parts of the business; Coach senior management team members, especially from a financial perspective.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills. Clear communicator who avoids jargon when speaking with the business, able to explain concepts simply.
- Highly numerate - can see trends and pinpoint reporting errors rapidly.
- Logical and analytical thinker who is accurate and attentive to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to respond to customers in an effective manner.
