**Responsibilities**
- Support APAC branches/business units by updating information on semi-macro economies and industries research
- Conduct on-site/off-site research on certain SMBC’s customers (or business groups) for the purpose of examining future credit policy on respective companies. The results should be presented to business units, credit departments, other related depts as well as SMBC’s management board members
- Accurate grasp of credit risk on customers in charge, and review obligor grades without delay, for companies with SMBC’s exposure of more than US$100M
- Advise and discuss with credit department for amendment, to reach final conclusion for obligor grades of respective companies, if necessary
- Detect SMBC’s customers whose credit risk is likely to be highlighted, and raise the alarm to protect our credit risk exposure
- Grasp updated trend in industry in-charge through companies visit, etc., and provide relevant information to related business units which could affect SMBC’s customers
- Recognize change of semi-macroeconomic environment in Asian countries in-charge, and provide relevant information which could have impact on risk profiles of corporations and industries
- Support business units which are seeking business opportunities with certain companies, through corporate research function such as overriding of obligor grading, research on business environment by industries, research on companies’ competitiveness & prospects, etc
- Handle credit inquiries of various companies and industries received from relevant business units
- Develop early warning models or business solution method for customers

**Requirements**:

- Degree qualifications in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related discipline
- At least 5 years or longer related research experience in rating agencies or financial institutions especially conducting research for APAC markets and good-to-have other sectors such as Food and Beverage, Retail, Construction, Building Materials, Property, Hospitality
- Good command of written/spoken English
- Knowledge and understanding of Thai/Indonesian/Vietnamese industries and companies is highly preferred
- Savvy PC software user such as Word/Excel/Powerpoint
- Familiar with Bloomberg service is an advantage
- Good analytical skills to undertake fact findings
- Occasional travelling is required
