DESIGNATION : IT Business Analyst, SG

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Position Description**

The IT Business Analyst will be required to be a strong and enthusiastic problem solver and self-starter. They will be required to be effective at planning and managing their own work and then acting as ‘Product Owner’ to drive forward the work of the IT delivery team including Developers and QA. They will be required to perform extensive hands-on work on the ‘core systems’ and will be required to develop appropriate system knowledge and technical skills, e.g. become a super user of Allegro Horizon and IMOS, become an admin user of ZEMA, become familiar with FO tools in Excel/Power BI, become proficient in SQL, PowerQuery and Excel.

The Business Analyst will be required to be proactive in engaging with users and working with them in a collaborative and open manner. They must take ownership of creating structured documentation (e.g. backlogs of user stories) and be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals, as well as running meetings with larger teams. They will be required to use JERAGM IT processes and tools to document, track and manage their work, including Confluence, JIRA and ZEPHYR.

They must be comfortable and adapt their style as needed to work effectively in different types of IT delivery team, in particular:

- Small agile teams manging their work using Scrum or Kanban
- IT Project teams led by a Project Manager and following an agile or waterfall approach

**Key Role Responsibilities**

The Business Analyst will work on small change and projects and will be responsible for the following across the ‘core systems’ landscape:

- Small Change and Projects
- Working with the users to identify their needs
- Creating worked examples, mock-ups, test cases or similar to help users understand their requirements and potential solution options
- Performing hands-on system or data analysis to identify changes (e.g. to usage, to configuration or to class-event)
- Documenting system change requests through a JIRA backlog of epics / user-stories
- Working with other members of the IT Delivery Team to breakdown and estimate changes
- Running prioritisation and status update meetings with other IT teams and users
- Working as functional expert as part of the IT delivery team during development and testing
- Tracking and chasing actions with other teams across IT and the business
- Performing functional testing and working with QA to create test plans/scripts for SIT and regression
- Running training and UAT
- Supporting release planning and go-live
- Creating user documentation
- Hypercare and 3rd Line Support
- Helping users hands-on with questions and 3rd line Support
- Working with IT Support to analyse problems, identify root causes and escalate fixes into the small change backlog

QUALIFICATIONS

**Key Qualifications and Experience**
- 5 years’ experience as an IT Business Analyst or Application Support Analyst focussed on ETRM systems within a trading house, investment bank, or through a tier-1 vendor/consultancy
- Experience of Commodities Trading (preferably including Freight or similar)
- Experience analysing trade data using analytical tools such as SQL, PowerQuery, Excel
