**What the role is**
- Applications are invited for the following position and project: Research Officer, Regional Social and Cultural Studies (1-Year Contract)
Non-violent extremism and trendsetters of Islam in Southeast Asia Under the Principal Investigator’s supervision, the Research Officer will support research efforts to identify and map emerging Islamic theologies and ideas from Southeast Asian countries; trace the origin of these theologies and ideas; and examine their modes of transmission and impact. The Research Officer will also support the examination of key Islamic personalities, groups or institutions.

**What you will be working on**
- Job Responsibilities: - Work under the direction of the project’s Principal Investigator - Provide editorial support to Visiting Fellows to publish a range of ISEAS publishing outlets such as ISEAS Perspective (2500 words); Fulcrum (800 words); and/or Trends in Southeast Asia (6000-8000 words);
- Contribute to ISEAS collective research efforts (organizing webinars; briefing engagements; research reviews, and reports). - Note-taking and other administrative duties

**What we are looking for**
- Bachelors (Hons) or Masters in Southeast Asian Studies, Malay Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Geography, Communications and New Media, and other related disciplines - Good communication and writing skills in English - Ability to understand and read Malay or Bahasa Indonesia
