Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our MDEs are game developers, engineering solutions to design challenges across a range of arcade games and attractions, and ultimately taking ideas from concept through to mass production. They have the freedom to explore design ideas, take ownership over their projects, and have the opportunity to grow their leadership skills in a highly diverse and energized work environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Create 3D and 2D CAD mechanical part and assembly drawings that detail the product’s design intent, supported by engineering calculations where necessary.
- Source components and catalogue parts, making practical decisions based on project stage and criteria (rapid prototyping vs production solutions).
- Ensure final product designs are manufacturable, reliable, repeatable, cost and freight optimized, safe, and easy to assemble by our customers (DfX).
- Design products to regulatory requirements which main include certifications such as CE, UL22.
- Specify and manage product BOMs.
- Manage engineering changes via Engineering Change Notifications with supporting engineering documentation.
- Design and fabricate mock-ups and prototypes by engaging vendors, working with in-house workshop staff and technicians, and leveraging processes such as laser-cutting and 3D printing.
- Collaborate with your project teammates, marketing and Head of Product, offering guidance on mechanical designs, developing gameplay features, and generally gaining and understanding of, and influencing, the overall project vision.
- Support project teams to meet agreed project deadlines, scope, quality and budget
- Support customer related quality issues with quick and reliable engineering solutions that are supported with test results.
- Help the technical documentation writer by supplying the technical specifications required to complete documents such as user/operator manuals.

**Required Skills & Experience**:

- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, designing machines with electro-mechanical components, linkages, springs, etc.
- Experience 3D and 2D CAD software.
- Sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and secondary processes (treatment, etc )
- Designing with non-ferrous materials such as plywood, MDF and sheet plastics.
- Creative, passionate and self-driven
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and able to clearly document and present ideas.
- A team player that thrives in a collaborative, dynamic, customer-centric environment
- Driven, proactive and resourceful, seeking information, libraries and resources that accelerate and improve product development.

**Bonus Points**:

- Experience with 3D printing technologies.
- Experience designing for vacuum formed and injection-moulded parts.
- A passion for games, as you'll be collaborating within a game development team and contributing to a wide range of entertainment products

**Internal/External Relationships**:

- Internal: R&D, SCM, Manufacturing, Project Management and QA/QC teams
- External: Component suppliers, CMs, fabricators, and production teams

**Qualifications/Education**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
