GIC’s Economics & Investment Strategy department (EIS) is a team of professionals who work closely with Investment Committees to set the Total Portfolio’s strategic outlook and asset allocation over long
- and medium
- term horizons; and to identify, research, recommend and initiate appropriate responses on major structural trends that could significantly affect the risk-return profile of the Total Portfolio.

**Total Portfolio Sustainable Investing**

The Total Portfolio Sustainable Investing team works closely with GIC’s clients, Board and internal teams to conduct thought leadership research to deepen understanding of and build strong conviction for long-term sustainable investing. By collaborating with our internal investment teams and external experts, we develop a suite of industry-leading sustainability integration tools to identify, measure and manage sustainability-related investment risks and opportunities in our total investment portfolio. The team is also responsible for developing investment solutions for Sustainability issues that have significant implications on the total GIC portfolio.

**Responsibilities**
- Conduct research on Sustainability issues affecting GIC such as climate change, biodiversity, inequality, gender and inclusion
- Develop relevant indicators, collect data and undertake empirical research to establish the financial impact of these issues on investment returns
- Draw long-term investment implications for GIC in terms of strategic asset allocation, tactical overlays, and asset class investment strategies
- Work with top-of-the-house investment team focused on capital allocation to develop policies and strategies for all of GIC
- Identify, surface and co-create investment ideas with bottom-up strategy teams
- Support sustainability team on ad hoc research, duties and/or management and client reporting

**Requirements**:

- University degree with a preferred background in Economics, Financial Analysis, Financial Engineering, Statistical Analysis, Climate science, ESG analysis
- 7-10 years of professional experience in the financial industry and/or sustainability-related roles, especially in sustainability/climate change investment research
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills to conduct rigorous and robust sustainability-related investment research; experience with Python or R will be considered favourably
- Strong presentation, writing and communications skills with an ability to translate complex technical concepts into succinct investment insights for stakeholders
- Experience in a policymaking role related to climate change or inequality is a bonus
