**What the role is**
- The Accounting Standards Setting Unit (ACSU) assists the Accounting Standards Committee (AS Committee) in discharging its duties under the Accounting Standards Act by providing strategic and technical accounting specialist support to AS Committee.
As the key leader of the ACSU, you will oversee the Secretariat Office and provide leadership on strategy, stakeholder engagement and technical accounting standard matters to the ACSU and institutionalising technical capabilities within the Secretariat Office to contribute to the overall achievement of the ACSU’s statutory objectives.

**What you will be working on**
- Key Job Responsibilities
- Overseeing all technical accounting standard setting matters, including:

- Overall responsibility for comment letters to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
- Providing thought leadership on upcoming accounting standards.
- General support for the ACSU.
- Providing technical accounting specialist support to ACSU delegation in meetings with the IASB, regional and national accounting standard setting bodies, and other accountancy bodies.
- Institutionalising strong technical capabilities within the Secretariat Office through building up a technically strong and self-sustaining ACSU Secretariat.
- Formulating and implementing ACSU’s engagement strategy for local stakeholders, the IASB, and other regional and national accounting standard setting bodies
- Leading ACSU’s networking with the IASB and other regional and national accounting standard setting bodies and drive the technical collaboration efforts/joint research work of the ACSU with the IASB and other regional and national accounting standard setting bodies.
- Representing Singapore on selected regional and international accounting standard bodies and meetings.
- Overseeing the coordination of industry feedback groups and focus group discussions of the ACSU and the organisation of outreach, issuance of accounting standards, exposure drafts, discussion papers, and other materials issued by the ACSU and the public communication of the ACSU on technical matters.
- Providing internal consultations on accounting standards to the Accounting Group.
- Training the Accounting Group on new/amended accounting standards.

- Demonstrate strong ability to synthesise knowledge issues in technical accounting and identify possible interfaces between different fields to create new forms of knowledge or redefine existing knowledge and professional practice.
Leadership
- Supervise, motivate and coach team leads and officers in managing their respective functional areas, and ensuring smooth operations of the department and implementation of projects. Provide advice and resolve functional and operational issues that are escalated.
Policy and Operational Excellence
- Demonstrate the ability to transform ACRA’s strategy into well-defined work plan (with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) policies and practices for ACSU. Ascertain and drives programmes and projects under the work plan and ensure that the KPIs are met.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to ensure systems and processes continue to be efficient and effective and are capable to meet both current and future needs and expectations.
Foster a service excellence culture and enable the delivering of excellent customer experience in the department that are aligned with current and future customers' expectations.

- Implement and manage initiatives to inculcate core values, encourage innovation, enhance staff cohesion and morale.
Manage staff performance through performance appraisal, training and coaching.
Identify learning and professional development opportunities for staff, improve the core and functional competencies of staff in the department and support in nurturing suitable officers to be future leaders.
**Requirements**:

- Professional qualifications, preferably in Accountancy.
- Able to lead and guide technical professionals within the organisation.
- Able to lead / support the ACSU engagement with various stakeholder groups in the financial reporting and accounting standards setting community.
- Up-to-date and in-depth technical accounting knowledge and writing skills are essential.
