We are looking for a **Research Assistant** to join our multi-disciplinary team of researchers and work on a project to improve the experience of airport users by focusing on the airport as a complex, dynamic product-service system consisting of built environment, operations, technologies and services and involving multiple stakeholders. While we are actively conducting research with users to better **understand, model and improve user experience and behaviour in airports**, we are also kickstarting the development of new technologies, services, and operational alternatives to augment the airport user experience. The research assistant will help develop, prototype, and test these solutions based on insights from ongoing research.

**Researcher Requirements**

The successful applicant would ideally have a strong academic background in product engineering and digital fabrication/additive manufacturing, preferably with existing research experience. They should be passionate about the aviation sector and keen to innovate existing processes by proposing hardware solutions to augment the airport experience. Previous experience with basic data analysis methods is an advantage to understand users’ wants and needs.

The job aims to give a motivated self-starter the prototyping freedom and space to explore new concepts, supported and guided within a group of domain experts with broad but strong academic and industrial backgrounds. The SUTD environment is new and well-suited to those with initiative both professionally and socially.

Education

Bachelors or, ideally, Master’s degree in design/product engineering, industrial design, or innovation by design.

**Skills**:
Able to work analytically, using latest software.

Methodological approach to prototyping and design.

Ability to be self-lead and agile towards a results driven working style

Desired Proficiency (not all are required)

Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Photoshop and InDesign)

3D modelling (Fusion 360, Rhino3D, Grasshopper, Dynamo BIM)

Simple UI mock-ups (i.e., Figma)

Data Analysis/Visualization (Atlas.ti, Tableau, R, SQL, etc.)
