Desktop Support Specialist

**Purpose of Position**
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Specialist to join our dynamic banking IT team. As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of desktop systems, providing technical assistance to end-users, and maintaining the overall stability of the banking desktop environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Desktop Support**:
- Provide first-level technical support for desktop hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktop systems, including hardware failures, software malfunctions, and connectivity problems.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of desktop systems with overall banking infrastructure.
**2. User Assistance**:
- Assist end-users with technical issues, providing clear and effective instructions.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through timely and effective support.
**3. System Monitoring and Maintenance**:
- Monitor desktop systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, patches, and security enhancements.
- Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard desktop systems and sensitive data.
**4. Documentation**:
- Create and maintain documentation for desktop procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
- Keep track of hardware and software inventory, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
**5. Collaboration**:
- Collaborate with other IT support teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communicate effectively with vendors for hardware and software procurement and support.
**6. Compliance and Security**:
- Ensure compliance with banking industry regulations and security standards. Implement and enforce security policies to protect desktop systems and sensitive financial data.
**Requirements**:
- Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in desktop support roles, preferably in the banking or financial industry.
- Familiarity with banking software and systems is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
