This position is to support APAC branches/business units by providing information on semi-macro economies and industries. It is also to conduct on-site/off-site research on certain customers (or company groups). CRSD’s research function is to manage and mitigate credit risks and to maintain the soundness of the bank’s credit portfolio. The results should be presented to business units, credit departments, other related departments in the region and Head Office in Tokyo as well as SMBC’s management. Staff is required to analyze industries and companies’ information, and to share those information to APAC branches/business units and Head Office in Tokyo. The staff is to present those reports to the management in APAC and Japan in both English and Japanese.

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with global CRSD team (Head Office in Tokyo, Osaka Office, NY Office, LN Office, HK Office, and Shanghai Office, both in English and Japanese).
- Liaise with head office in Tokyo and other domestic offices in Japan, which include communicating and preparing internal reports in Japanese.
- Provide quality corporate research, industry research, discussion papers used for the bank’s credit protection and business promotions in a timely manner.
- Achieve target with quantitative and qualitative assessment.
- Meet the target of achievement ratio defined.
- Ensure accurate and quality work output & deliverables by independently setting high performance standards.
- Contribute to the development of business/credit protection and/or being a good representative holding seminars/visiting clients with our management etc.
- Provide accurate and relevant information to support front office's marketing activity and/or credit department transaction analysis/ portfolio management.
- Establish and expand information source base, setting up cross border info sharing channels, streamlining workflow for CRSD's sustainable growth and/or productivity improvement to ensure that the team is consistently prepared with information ahead of requirements.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- At least 10 years or longer related research experience in rating agencies or financial institutions especially conducting research for APAC markets with Automobile, Machinery, Manufacturing, Energy sectors much preferred.
- Experience in India business will be a plus.
- Experience in managing and coaching junior analysts is highly preferred.
- Good communication skills in English and proficiency in Japanese Language is highly preferred as this role requires the person to prepare presentation in Japanese.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to coordinate and manage stakeholders
- Strong team player, meticulous and client oriented
- Agile and adaptable, diligent and strong project management skills and experience to manage several projects simultaneously and keep to project timelines
