**Asst Underwriter / Underwriter, Property**

As an Assistant Underwriter / Underwriter, you will be responsible for assisting underwriters in all tasks to help deliver a profitable Underwriting service to our clients as you develop your underwriting skills. Your key tasks include assisting with underwriting business within the agreed business plan and work towards obtaining individual underwriting authority; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Underwriting under guidance (within limits); preparing individual cases for pricing and modelling, liaising with Actuaries to deliver technical pricing to Underwriter; using modelling systems to aid the underwriting process; conducting research as requested by Underwriter.
- Assist the business group in maintaining and developing their book of business while developing the necessary skill sets and defined authority to accept risk in underwriting of a profitable account.
- Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.

- Understand the strategy and financial targets of AXA XL Insurance and those applicable to the business unit. You will be set appropriate individual targets and goals that support delivery of the business plan.
- Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsement requests to process any necessary changes to the policy.
- Working collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, risk engineers, and management team.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
- Experience in the relevant class of business.
- Under technical direction, works within significant limits and authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and coordination.
- Possesses demonstrated technical knowledge and skills, including product and industry, reflective of successful progression through various job family levels.
- Advanced analytical, negotiation and sales/marketing skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Interpersonal Savvy - Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong insured and broker contacts.
- Ability to develop and understand business processes, strategy and planning.
- Collaborative team player who provides creative solutions and ideas for resolution
