**ScaleUp Bio**is looking for an experienced and driven **Senior Microbiologist**to be part of our dynamic Quality Assurance and Quality Control Team at our state-of-the-art precision fermentation production sites. In this role, you’ll manage a small, dedicated team of microbiologists, engage directly with customers, and play a key part in advancing, optimizing, and scaling up fermentation processes.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee and support daily operations of the microbiologist team, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Manage strain banking, receiving, and storage systems with a high level of traceability and control.
- Assist in benchtop bioreactor setup, sampling, and seed preparation for fermentation runs.
- Perform and review routine microbiological testing (raw materials, in-process, environmental, and final product samples).
- Conduct a wide range of analytical assays, including
- a) Optical density, YSI (sugar concentration), moisture, Brix
- b) Protein quantification (Bradford Assay), enzyme activity
- c) HPLC, dry/wet cell weight measurements
- Take ownership of testing method development and validation for new process pipelines.
- Ensure calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
- Maintain a clean, GMP-aligned lab environment, managing inventory and ensuring timely replenishment of consumables.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support project timelines.
- Represent Quality Control functions in customer interactions, when needed — providing technical insights and demonstrating facility capabilities.
- Uphold and promote safe working practices across laboratory environment.

**Your Profile**
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioprocess, or a related field
- 4+ years’ experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in precision fermentation or microbial-based bioprocessing
- Proven ability to lead or coordinate small teams and drive lab efficiency
- Strong communication skills and comfort in customer-facing discussions and technical presentations
- Highly organized, independent, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership
- Thrives in a dynamic startup environment — willing to take on challenges beyond a defined job description
- Fluent in English
