Trader Trainee

Job Purpose

**Responsibilities**:
In preparation for a holistic appreciation of the Sugar business, the trader training will include rotations to Operations, Trade Support, Research, Freight and Risk Management.

Operations Rotation:

- Contracts issuance and understanding of it to follow through on execution.
- Follow through on bulk/break bulk/container shipments including loading, discharging and payments.
- Claims settlement and calculate demurrage and despatch based on agreements with sellers/shippers and buyers/charterers. Trade Support Rotation:

- Send timely pricing recap to clients.
- Working with traders to ensure all tickets are correctly filled out.
- End of day input into our trading system (ITAS) of broker futures trades and internal futures trades
- Reconcile brokers statement with data on ITAS system.
- Keep track of Mark to Market valuations of physical contracts.
- Liaise with operations team to ensure that physical contracts are accurately reflected in the trading system. Research Rotation:

- Maintaining/updating the sugar supply and demand (SNDs) for Far East region.
- Keeping close track of regional sugar production, weather and shipments at key producing countries.
- Participate at internal sugar strategy meeting, conference call and other forums.

**Requirements**:

- University Degree qualified in business administration, economics, agricultural sciences or similar.
- 0-2 years in commodities market.is preferred or at a minimum and this can include either internships or prior experience.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate to stakeholders.
- Ability to converse in Mandarin with customers in Far East Region.
- Flexibility, initiative and innovation to deal with ambiguous and fast-paced situations.
- Highly numerate.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
