**Data Engineer (ETL)**

Job Title: Data Engineer (ETL)

Work Location: Jurong East, Singapore

**About the Job**

The data engineer will be part of the Data Engineering team to lay the foundation for all data analytics work in the company. The team builds and maintains critical data pipelines and large and interesting datasets, to generate business insights and enable data-driven decision making, supporting the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data.

The data engineer will have an opportunity to collaborate and work with various teams within the company to determine how best to design, implement, and support solutions.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
1. Design, build and maintain data pipelines to produce ready-to-use datasets to data consumers.

2. Actively partner with the business to model datasets from various business domains.

4. Data Extraction: Identifying and retrieving data from various sources, such as databases, APIs, files, or external systems. This includes designing and implementing efficient data extraction methods while ensuring data integrity and security.

5. ETL Architecture Design: Collaborating with the team and other stakeholders to understand data storage requirements and design the overall ETL architecture.

7. Data Loading: Implementing strategies for efficiently loading transformed data into target systems, such as data warehouses, data lakes, or analytical databases.

8. Performance Optimization: Identifying and implementing performance optimization techniques to enhance the speed, efficiency, and scalability of ETL processes. Testing and troubleshooting any issues that arise, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, or data integration problems to ensure the smooth functioning of the ETL infrastructure.

9. Any other duties as required by the corporation.

**Job Requirements**:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline that provides a solid foundation in programming, algorithms, databases, and data management.

2. Junior Position: At least 1-2 years of experience and at least completed 1-2 projects in that role.

3. Senior Position: At least 3-4 years of experience and at least completed 3-4 projects in that role.

4. Experienced in delivering data warehouse and/or data lake solutions.

5. ETL and streaming job design, scheduling, and monitoring experience.

6. Experience in Attunity CDC, Apache Kafka, Talend will be advantageous.

7. Some data modelling experience will be advantageous.

8. Unix/Linux familiarity and shell scripting experience.

9. Working knowledge of source-code control using common tools available such as Git.

10. Experience in using SQL as well as NoSQL Databases (such as MongoDB).

11. Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
