[What the role is]

The ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic development.

Applications are invited for:
Research Officer with Geographic Information System (GIS) skillset [Contract Role]

The Research Officer will provide ISEAS programmes with GIS support when needed, as well as broader administrative and research assistance where necessary. He or she should be able to work independently under limited supervision, and will have the opportunity to undertake a personal research project.

[What you will be working on]

**Responsibilities**:
Successful applicants are expected to:

- Support ISEAS research projects and products with GIS expertise, especially in terms of visualisation and analysis of geographic/spatial data ;
- Support the operations, administrative and editorial work for research projects/programmes
- Undertake research projects in collaboration with other researchers to deliver written products for a range of outlets;
- Contribute to the Institute’s collective research and public outreach efforts

[What we are looking for]

**Requirements**:

- University degree in GIS or closely related field; an advanced degree would be preferred;
- Keen interest in conducting research on the given topics;
- Good communication and writing skills in English;
- Experience in copy-editing and other forms of editorial work would be highly desirable
- Positive work attitude, a high sense of professionalism, and ability to work under demanding circumstances.
