**Job Description**:
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure school to parent communication is professional and meets best in class standards.
- Grow awareness of GESS in the wider community through effective strategic communications.
- Proactively research and gather feedback from relevant stakeholders and prepare public relations tactics and plans to counter negative views.
- They will take the lead in the execution of the School’s PR and communication activities as well as creative projects, ensuring that all external communication is professional and in line with set guidelines.
- Support a multitude of different channels and content types within a matrix structure working with wider Marketing department colleagues in other teams.
**Team management**
- Deputise for Head of External Communications and Relations during times of absence
- Support team members with day-to-day operations and questions
- Assist in training and developing of junior department members
- Hire and manage freelancers and other suppliers as required
**Public Relations, campaigns and communication channels**
- Create new and original ways for the School to communicate effectively with its stakeholders and the wider community
- Develop resources including frameworks, processes and templates to guide content development ensuring a wide-reach and satisfaction
- Execute annual content calendar plan including managing news portals
- Develop media presence through public relations and campaigns
- Manage assigned media partners in a professional and positive manner
- Respond to media requests and ensure accuracy of content
- Produce annual social media content calendar
- Oversee social media channels
- Ensure that social media channels are responsively managed
- Identify and manage hashtags for social media channels
- Coordinate with internal departments (HR, Academics, CCA, Sports) to gather content for publications, online channels or campaigns
- Plan and publicise activities and events that benefit the image, visibility, and reputation of the School
- Actively seek opportunities to promote the School and execute assigned tactics and actions to promote the School in the community and beyond
- Ad hoc projects
**Content creation, proofing and tasks**
- Write press releases and media publications
- Write and/or manage whole school communication
- Editorial oversight and produce communication such as newsletters, magazine articles, blogs, presentations and Community Portal content
- Oversee and produce newsletters and news postings
- Copywriting and editing written content for projects and tasks
- Copy-editing duties for all written messages in English to ensure they are on-brand and in-line with guidelines
**Creative concepts**
- Create concepts for assigned tasks in line with brand image and voice as well as the project goal
- Ensure concepts meet segment / user needs and effectively communicate the School’s brand and values as well as value-proposition
- Assists the Head of External Communications and Relations on evaluating tasks / projects providing a go/no-go analysis
- Suggest creative concepts and strategies that are deliverable within the assigned budget and tools / resources available to the School
**Administration and reports**
- Manage all form and publication requests in a timely manner
- Accurately produce assigned reports
- Research and select appropriate metrics to measure performance of tactics and actions
**Knowledge and Experience**
- Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or International Relations
- 3-5 years of relevant working experience in Public Relations or communications
- Previous experience of successfully managing social media channels
- Experience of media buying and negotiation
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders
- Previous portfolio of successful press releases, media campaigns and video content
**Technical and Soft Skills**
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Speech writing
- Press releases, articles and social media publications following School guidelines
- Pleasant and supportive attitude with an engaging approach to developing relationships
- Determined approach to growing and developing team members
- Photography and videography skills would be a distinct advantage
- Thorough understanding of web and software tools related to communication
- Management of CMS portals
- Social media channel management
- Proficient English written and spoken communication skills. Written fluency in German or a regional language would be a distinct advantage (Mandarin, Indonesian, Thai or Vietnamese)
