Technical Writing Lead

This job is for someone who thinks bigger than traditional software documentation. You can explain complex features and capabilities in simplistic ways that are useful for both experienced and novice audiences.

Our Developer Experience and Technical Writing teams are growing exponentially, so there will be opportunities to rapidly grow your career and responsibilities. We’ll be building a new team from the ground up with some exciting greenfield projects The team is a global team of technical writers, engineers, and PMs. This technical writing lead will report to our Product Leaders and will work closely with the Product Manager for our Developer Experience Platform.

**Responsibilities**:

- Build a new global technical writing team and evangelise technical writing across Airwallex
- Manage day-to-day workloads for technical writers and planning the weekly/monthly workload for the technical writing team
- Act as point of escalation for team members and direct reportsReport to executives and product leaders for the progress of the overall work and strategic direction & impact
- Recruiting, mentoring, and management of technical writing staff in a hybrid work environment
- Evaluates internal procedures, establishes, implements and documents processes that support the continuous improvement of sound business practices
- Mentor and coach staff members via 1:1 meetings with their deliverables, performance improvements, and career development
- Assist executive team with the annual performance reviews and merit increases
- Drive projects to completion with a full ownership mindset

**Skills**:

- Experience in people management and driving technical writing projects across mutliple stakeholders
- Expert proficiency in technical writing skills
- Experience in improving or building both information architectures and content strategies for documentation
- Experience documenting APIs, writing code samples, tutorials, and other technical content related to building or extending products
- Finds joy in creatively engaging with developer audiences
- Nice to have:
- Experience working on cross-product documentation
- Experience in improving or building both information architectures and content strategies for documentation
- Background in engineering/software development
- Bilingual in Chinese with professional proficiency
