The Advanced Manufacturing Cluster takes a leading role in driving, developing and facilitating efforts in Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace & Metrology for A*STAR, contributing towards a strong innovative and vibrant research and development ecosystem in Singapore to support industry and public sector needs. Advanced Manufacturing Cluster’s portfolio covers a span of areas in Precision Engineering, Aerospace, Digital Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, Laser & Optics, Robotics / Automation and Metrology.
**Job Description**:
The Assistant Head / Senior Officer will be part of the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster at the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC), with the following key areas of work:
Assist SERC management in the administration of A*STAR Research Entities, including governance, budget management and achievement monitoring.
Assist SERC management to oversee and strategize innovation plans for the sector/sub-sector/technology areas. (e.g. Laser & Optics etc.)
Facilitate the conceptualization and development of programmes to address current industry gaps, and to build capabilities for Singapore’s next bound of industry transformation
Work with relevant ministries and public agencies, industry partners and research performers to identify emerging trends and competitive opportunities, and foresight science and technology areas for potential investments in Singapore.
Work with research performers to ensure that funded programmes / A*STAR Research Entities (under the officer’s portfolio) remain on track to achieve outcomes, milestones, performance indicators and/or budget utilization.
A background in laser & optics, precision engineering, metrology and/or in business strategy would be an advantage.
Job Requirements
Have a broad vision of science and technology, able to handle diverse technical topics beyond one’s direct field of education and experience, with excellent awareness of emerging technologies and global trends.
Outstanding writing abilities, oral communication and presentation skills with a flair for engaging multiple stakeholders for outcome-driven discussions
Energetic self-starter, able to self-direct and flex between varieties of approaches
