D&E Department

The D&E team collaborates strongly with Sales, Operations, regional management, and global innovation groups along the way. D&E also works hand in hand with the Construction team to develop and drive a vertically integrated design and ensures existing standards, regulatory frameworks and designs are managed and executed effectively, across our diverse APAC existing market, plus will support the strategic positioning of Vantage’s successful entry into emerging markets.

Position Description

Vantage is looking for a Senior Director - Design & Engineering, APAC, to lead our engineering design and assurance team, which comprises dispersed SMEs in MEP CSA and other related discipline areas. We offer a professionally challenging and dynamic operating environment with responsibilities around new site development, facilitating design excellence before feeding into the construction process, and facility adapts for our key customers.

Our preference is for this role to be based in Hong Kong or Singapore.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers, designers, modelers and design managers focused on data center critical infrastructure systems; D&E is accountable for high-level planning and technical advisory, schematic system design, specification development, technical submittal review, design document review, global standards assurance, oversight of installations from a compliance perspective, as well as participation in commissioning IST activities and transitioning to operations.

Under guidance and oversight from the VP - Design & Engineering, APAC, you will be responsible for driving performance, engineering excellence, for ensuring compliance with global and regional standards, driving cross collaboration of the D&E group across internal teams, while demonstrating visible leadership in your field. In addition, you will be responsible for actively engaging and providing guidance around the career development of engineers reporting to you, the recruitment of new members for the team, and the training and onboarding of APAC team employees in accordance with Vantage standards.

You will act as an important point of contact for the rest of the departments' leaders involved in the program development (Sales, Solutions Engineering, New Site Development, Finance, Legal, HR, Innovation CSA, Construction, Automation & Controls, Security, IT, and Operations). Your ability to work in a fast paced, team environment means having strengths in collaboration is a must.

Active participation and coordination with D &E leaders from other Vantage development regions will be essential, to ensure consistency of product delivery, and alignment around global initiatives we need to consider and deploy within APAC.

You and your team will:
- Be presented with complex engineering challenges and asked to bring them to resolution, working with key partners across our diverse geographic portfolio to effect project delivery, addressing the drivers around commercial viability, adaptive design approaches, local standards and regulatory frameworks,- Need to challenge how best to position and integrate technology advancements while keeping the importance of sustainability front of mind.- You and the team will evaluate design solutions and provide MEP and CSA internal advisory and analysis to balance CAPEX and OPEX costs;- Provide robust technical support, design management guidance and oversight around projects ranging from due diligence phase though to fully detailed design phases.
