Head of Lng Trading

Pacific Energy Corporation (PEC) is an independent energy resources development company focused on meeting the increasing energy needs of the major Asian economies and the North American markets. It develops, builds, owns and operates competitive energy infrastructure assets throughout the natural gas value chain while maintaining its role as a responsible corporate citizen. In the upstream sector, Pacific Energy’s activities are concentrated on the exploration and production of gas in Canada. Its midstream and downstream operations include liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Canada, LNG receiving terminals and gas-fired power plants in China. Pacific LNG Pte Ltd is a subsidiary company under the umbrella of PEC.

The incumbent will lead in the set-up and oversight of the LNG trading team in executing and managing LNG-related transactions by developing and considering market trading strategies, portfolio risk parameters and approvals process in order to manage physical and financial LNG-related transactions to meet profitability targets. He/She shall oversee provision of market insights and relevant analysis to support proposed LNG transactions, build-up the suitable trading infrastructure to support the growth in LNG trading activity as well as develop and expand strategic relationships with LNG trading counterparties. He/She will be responsible for manpower planning, directing trading operations, managing the budget and formulate the annual work plan. He/She will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where timely decisions must be made based on market movements and trends. He/She is a forward-looking and results-oriented individual who can work well under pressure, and is able to provide strategic direction in enhancing the organisation's portfolio value and profitability.

**Responsibilities**
- Organize the market analysis, manage forward curve, track market trends by research and deliver periodic reports to corporate management.
- Set up deal structure and objectives for various time frames based on DOA and mandate of corporate management.
- Build and manage trading team including traders, analysts and commercial operators to execute the corporation’s LNG and gas strategies.
- Market coverage starting from Asia Pacific and Expanding to west of Suez Canal as needed.
- Provide leadership and oversight on analysis of market trends, technical and sentiments attributes to develop and implement profitable trading strategies.
- Originate and recommend LNG commercial short term/ spot transactions to execute.
- Establish and build 3rd Party relationships with customers in the region for LNG deals opportunities and identify profitable trading/optimization opportunities.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Business Finance or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in building up LNG Trading Desk will be critical to success.
- At least 20 years’ experience in management roles in energy trading firm with proven track record on team management and P&L responsibility of which 15 years of related experience in LNG trading operations.
- Strong knowledge and network in the energy space and is familiar with international trading business and familiar with global petrochemical industry and is conversant in long term contract negotiation and operations.
- Strong in depth experience in paper trade and deals with futures and OTC instruments for such transactions.
- Good communications and interpersonal skills.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with agile response to market changes.
