**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Monitor and analyze political and legislative developments, including government health policies, and assess the possible impact on BI’s business and reputation, providing insight and counsel in key business planning decisions.
- Direct, devise and execute strategic plans to leverage or mitigate upcoming changes and trends. Promote business goals through thought leadership and structured advocacy.
- Enhance visibility and give BI a prominent voice with policy makers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key policy stakeholders to advance BI business goals and further develop BI’s reputation as a credible and respected voice in the life sciences sector.
- Lead advocacy outreach to relevant politicians and parliamentary groups, being the initial face of the organization with these individuals.
- Lead the response to relevant Government consultations on behalf of the business to help articulate and implement policy positions.
- Lead, manage and co-ordinate BI's engagement with relevant trade associations. Actively participate in relevant groups
- Instigate, develop, and drive approval of all relevant letters, documents, positioning papers, slides etc. (approval process) (with agency support where appropriate)
- Representing ROPU ASKAN within BI’s global Government Relations network. Works with the Head of Corporate Affairs and the wider team to ensure an integrated and joined-up approach.

**Job Expertise**:

- In depth understanding of healthcare policy and/or Animal Health policy
- An understanding of the issues facing the pharmaceutical industry and a grasp of its regulatory environment
- Track record of implementing advocacy strategies to shape a policy environment in pursuit of organizational goals
- At ease building strong business relationships with a network of senior politicians and policy makers
- Established relationships with relevant parliamentarians an advantage
- Confident in explaining complex policy issues to internal audience to strengthen understanding and engagement across the organization
- Maintain strict compliance with all applicable policies and laws, especially those related to interactions with government officials
