We are currently seeking an Associate/ to support the Singapore Marine & Trade team with a particular focus on contentious and non-contentious Trade and Commodities matters. The role presents a fantastic opportunity to join a team of industry experts, acting on behalf of a diverse local and international client base, with the opportunity to participate in a range of business development-related activities.

The team has a large number of dual qualified and local language speaking lawyers enabling the firm to work in an increasing number of jurisdictions throughout the region. We pride ourselves on being able to offer offshore and onshore expert legal advice particularly since the establishment of the Singapore Joint Legal Venture with Clasis LLC in 2013.

Key responsibilities
- Assist the Partner and other team members on a range of complex and large-scale matters
- Helping to supervise and train other team members
- Conducting legal research and analysis related to a broad spectrum of marine, trade and commodities matters
- Advising commodities companies in relation to contracts for and disputes arising out of the sale, transportation, storage, blending/processing, payment, hedging and financing of commodities.
- Advising ship owners, charterers and operators in relation to contracts for and disputes arising out of the carriage of goods by sea
- Being a key point of contact for, and liaising with local and global clients
- Leading and participating in business development activities
- Ability to juggle a range of tasks and prioritise effectively
- Clear commercial understanding and outcome focus
- Strong drafting skills and excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to work as part of a team with limited supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and networking ability
