Associate, Marine, 0-2 Years' Experience

Kennedys Legal Solutions is looking for an Associate with up to 2 years' shipping and trade experience to join its Marine team.

The successful Associate will have experience of:

- Handling a high number of varied cases.
- Working to tight deadlines and as part of a team.
- Building relationships with clients.
- Managing and handling low value cases with mínimal supervision.

The successful Associate will have the following skills:

- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Strong negotiation and drafting abilities.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Eagerness to be involved in Business Development and be a team player.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious lawyer who is keen to work on an array of challenging cases in a collegiate and highly regarded team within a fast growing international law firm and marine team. The lawyer will be exposed to a wide range of both Singapore and international work.

**Team**

Kennedys Singapore was established in 2008 and in 2015 entered into a joint law venture (JLV) with local Singapore law firm, Legal Solutions to create Kennedys Legal Solutions. Kennedys Legal Solutions is the Singapore office of the international law firm Kennedys which has 71 offices and associated offices/cooperations around the world.

Kennedys Legal Solutions pride ourselves on helping our clients navigate both business and legal challenges throughout the Asia Pacific region and across multiple practice areas, with a specific focus on commercial disputes. Our Singapore Marine team has a strong market reputation and punches well above its weight. It is led by two well regarded partners with extensive experience handing a range of shipping and trade disputes across Asia. The team is part of the wider Kennedys Global Marine Team with 50 marine lawyers in various offices across our global network. Our lawyers are regularly required to work with our colleagues in other jurisdictions.

**Cases**
- Marine related disputes involving charterparties, contracts of affreightment, bills of landing, ship construction contracts, ship sale and purchase
- Marine Insurance
- Commodities / International Trade disputes
- Advice on regulatory, sanctions and compliance issues
- International arbitrations in London and across Asia
- Shipping / Trade related litigation in Singapore and other jurisdictions in Asia.

**Required experience**
- Demonstrable research, writing and communication skills
- Excellent academics.
