**Position Purpose**:
Based in Singapore, Legal Counsel, Wealth Management will be responsible for providing legal advice and support primarily to the Wealth Management business line of the BNP Paribas Group.

The role will involve providing day-to-day legal support to the WM Business and, in particular, providing advice on the legal aspects of banking, credit and security, investment products, disputes and litigation, regulatory matters and legal projects. The role will also involve providing support as required to International Financial Services business lines (e.g. Real Estate) and other business lines as required.

The role will primarily focus on Singapore but may be required to provide support on regional projects, products and documentation as well as matters involving other sites.

The position will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with other members of the Wealth Management Legal team in Singapore, Hong Kong and elsewhere in Asia-Pacific. However, the position requires the seniority and experience to work on projects independently and to provide advice proactively and in a timely fashion at a senior level.

The role will involve liaison with other lawyers as well as business and Compliance teams around the region (particularly in Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Taiwan and the PRC).

**Key Responsibilities**

Generally, to provide legal advice and support to the Wealth Management business line, in particular:

- Day to day legal advice to the Wealth Management business teams
- Advising on credit issues, in particular bilateral loans, mono-counter financing, structured credit lending, real estate financing and security. Advice on credit structures and secured lending, including on a cross-border basis.
- Legal analysis of new products and services and providing input to the new product process. These may include credit, investment, derivative, trust and other products and services.
- Documentation of products and services. Work on general banking terms, product terms/confirmations, loan/security documentation, risk disclosures/disclaimers, non-disclosure agreements etc
- Advice in relation to disputes, litigation and regulatory investigations
- Advising on legal aspects/implications of procedures/policies affecting the WM business.
- Managing external lawyers.
- Ensure internal training on legal issues is provided to Wealth Management and other stakeholders, as necessary.
- Monitor and ensure changes in laws and regulations which affect Wealth Management business are identified and considered.

**Competencies (Technical / Behavioural)**
- Experience in providing legal support within the banking industry, preferably with experience in private banking matters.
- Experience in private banking/investment products and services and/or providing legal support on derivatives/structured products an advantage.
- Good knowledge of credit lending structures (including bilateral lending, mono-counter financing, structured credit lending, real estate financing, risk participations) and loan and security documentation.
