For the safety of our employees, our approach is tailored to the situation in each of the 30 countries we operate in. Travel is only conducted when absolutely necessary and safe to do so. Hiring managers will provide guidance on remote, hybrid, or on-site work arrangements in accordance with country-specific safety policies._
Conservation International (CI) has been protecting nature for the benefit of all for over 30 years. Through science, policy, and partnerships, CI is helping build a healthier, more prosperous, and more productive planet.
***
People need nature — and for over 30 years, Conservation International (CI) has worked to protect it. Through cutting-edge science, innovative policy, and global reach, we work to protect the nature that we rely on for food, freshwater, and livelihoods. CI is a US-headquartered charity with offices in 29 countries and 2,000 partners worldwide.
CI is one of the global leaders in using natural climate solutions (NCS) to combat climate change. There is significant growth in the demand for high-quality conservation projects that can access the voluntary and compliance carbon markets and CI is rapidly expanding its portfolio of high-quality carbon projects to meet this demand. CI Asia Pacific (CIAP) has recently launched the Asia Pacific Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), a multi-donor facility, to provide technical support and invest in NCS projects and enabling conditions. Projects include REDD+, landscape restoration, and Blue Carbon mechanisms.
CIAP is seeking an outgoing and creative NCS Project Analyst (Analyst), as part of the TAF Portfolio Team, to support the sourcing and evaluation of NCS project opportunities, both internally within CI and externally with outside partners, across the Asia-Pacific region. The Analyst will identify and engage with new NCS project opportunities and manage opportunity relationships throughout the conceptual design and evaluation stages of the project development cycle. Using in-house tools, the Analyst evaluates and screens opportunities through scenario building and financial modeling. The Analyst manages all CIAP origination and evaluation workflow including the operation and curation of Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) software, delivery of Project Idea Notes (PIN), coordinating the creation of Project Opportunity Profiles (POP), and ensuring new opportunities are properly entered into the NCS Project Database. Additionally, the Analyst may be called upon to support donor fundraising initiatives and reporting.
To be successful, the Analyst needs to be conversant with developments and trends in nature conservation, carbon markets, carbon policy, climate and safeguard certification standards, and NCS methodologies. The Analyst must have strong organizational, financial modeling, technical writing, information management, and communication skills.
The Analyst works closely with country leaders and field programs as well as the Conservation Finance Division, Center for Oceans, and other relevant Conservation International divisions. The Analyst reports directly to the Regional Carbon Technical Director of the Asia Pacific Field Division.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Support the Regional Carbon Technical Director in the development and implementation of NCS project pipeline strategies and workflows.
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential NCS project partners throughout conceptual design and evaluation stages of the project development cycle.
- Working closely with the TAF Technical Team, conducting pre-feasibility assessments of potential NCS projects, producing Project Idea Notes (PIN), and coordinating the development of Project Opportunity Profiles (POP) of selected PIN opportunities.
- Set up and manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to ensure efficient and systematic handling and reporting of NCS project origination leads.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This is a full-time position and will be based in Singapore.
- Frequent travel within the region will be required, often this will entail travel to remote locations with rustic conditions;
- Flexibility in the work schedule is required in order to accommodate time differences between the Arlington, VA office and international field offices located in multiple time zones.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Required**
- 2 to 4 years of work experience in climate finance or related sectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the purpose and types of conservation finance.
- Excellent marketing and communication skills building and maintaining relationships with potential NCS project development partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent creative thinking and analytical skills to evaluate, expand upon, and model NCS opportunities.
- Believe that forest conservation and other NCS initiatives are critical
