Business Development Analyst

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Business Development Analyst will support the development and execution of a pipeline of opportunities to underpin Ampol Trading & Shipping’s growing third-party physical trade flows and international expansion strategy. One of the primary responsibilities is to support inorganic key growth (products, locations or other) initiatives within Ampol’s International business

The role will be responsible for:
- Performance of detailed analytical review of identified global markets, assets and the supply chains of customers and competitors to inform our business development plans and provide routine insights to unlock new potential physical trading and / or transaction opportunities
- Preparation of commercial offers for customers including pricing, terms and conditions, bid documentation and any required analysis to inform such content
- Evaluation and implementation of changes required for Trading & Shipping to facilitate the decarbonisation ambitions of ourselves and our customers
- Supporting formulation of the long-term business development strategy for Trading & Shipping and be expected to undertake regular reporting to senior management within Trading & Shipping.

Critical Accountabilities & Outcomes

Business Development
- Detailed analytical review of global markets, assets and the supply chains of customers and competitors
- Support the development of the execution plan for new deal/market entry that will deliver on Ampol’s Trading & Shipping growth and international expansion aspirations
- Participate in the full life cycle of deals, including the identification and development of new opportunities (as it relates to external counterparties and/or internal change to deliver on decarbonisation ambitions of ourselves and our customers)
- Operate as a strategic customer engagement representative for our international customers
- Perform the business valuation (including financial modelling), execution of due diligence plan, and provide input to the integration process
- Monitor Trading & Shipping performance against KPIs and communicate to relevant internal stakeholders to ensure the team is aware of this performance
- Play a key role in counter party engagement and management

Analytics
- For select international markets, build a sustainable dataset of key market participants, supply chain details (volumes, products, assets and capacities, freight routes, suppliers, cost of supply etc). This should leverage Ampol’s front office market intelligence and existing Ampol research and analytical data and tools.
- Conduct evaluation of Ampol’s optimal supply plan for selected international markets
- Actively screen target markets and assets for potential supply and/or structured growth opportunities based on parameters agreed from time to time.
- Maintain a deep base of knowledge on these markets and monitor and communicate key developments.
- Engage effectively with internal and external counterparties to manage needs, expectations and obtain or communicate relevant information.

**Qualifications**:
Tertiary qualification in business, economics, finance, mathematics, statistics or engineering

Experience
- 5 or more years of senior analytical, research experience in relevant industries, - preferably in a commodity or energy environment with a commercial focus
