**What the role is**
- Scientist / Centre for Research & Opportunities in Plant Science
- CROPS conducts leading research through partnerships with stakeholders in the agritech ecosystem targeted to increase urban farming productivity and sustainability. The key CROPS capabilities are Indoor Production Systems, Microbiome Modulation, Plant Tissue Culture and Plant Formulations. The centre also focuses on increasing indoor farm productivity, enhancing the quality of farm produce and deployment of smart farming solutions including IOT enablement, agrivoltaic and waste-to-resource strategies.
- The key responsibilities of the Research Scientist include the following:
- Engage in plant science / microbiome / tissue culture research
- Drive projects on farm productivity improvement and enhancement of farm produce quality
- Perform research to understand the biological and chemical processes by which crops grow, such as determining the role of a particular gene in plant growth and nutrition
- Plan and execute intelligent urban/vertical farming-related in-house and industry projects and supervise internship projects.
- Establish wide industry network and increase the visibility of Temasek polytechnic via impactful projects
- Lead skill-based training of students in projects
- Exercise meticulous record keeping and management for traceability

**Job Requirements**:

- Relevant qualification in Plant / Biological / Life Sciences or related discipline, preferably with at least 5 years of related experience
- Experience working in a team with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Committed to producing accurate and high-quality work.
- Resourceful and able to work independently to execute the tasks and achieve deliverables on time
