The Laboratory Officer will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations within the electrochemical lab and providing essential support to ongoing projects. The role requires a good level of technical proficiency in electrochemical techniques, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Laboratory Officer will work closely with the project teams to ensure smooth and safe functioning of the lab and timely completion of tasks. Key responsibilities include:
**Lab Management**:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the electrochemical lab, including equipment maintenance, inventory management, and safety protocols.
Ensure that the lab is well-equipped and stocked with necessary materials and supplies for ongoing experiments and projects.
Coordinate with vendors for procurement of equipment/chemicals and supplies as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with laboratory standards and regulations.

**Experimental Support**:
Assist researchers and project teams with experimental setup, data collection, and analysis.
Characterizations of surfaces and coatings in terms of mechanical, physical and chemical properties, as well as coating performance evaluation.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance on experimental procedures as required.
Conduct routine calibration and maintenance of electrochemical equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in detailed lab reports.

**Project Support**:
Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure that milestones are met in a timely manner.
Communicate regularly with project stakeholders to provide updates on progress and address any concerns or challenges that arise.

**Training and Development**:
Provide training and guidance to new lab members on proper laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Stay informed about advancements in electrochemical technology and techniques through literature review and professional development activities.
Share knowledge and best practices with other members of the research team to enhance overall productivity and efficiency.

**Job Requirements**:
Diploma or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related science and engineering field.
Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably with a focus on electrochemistry.
Strong understanding of electrochemical principles and techniques, including cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, and potentiostatic/galvanostatic measurements.
Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting electrochemical equipment such as potentiostats, electrochemical cells, and electrodes.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant laboratory environment, with knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures.
Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, while also contributing effectively to a dynamic research team.
**Note**: Some of above requirements are optional but advantageous to have.
