[What the role is]

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a premier botanical institution and the only tropical garden to be inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has an extensive collection of plants, including orchids, gingers, palms, and many heritage trees which reflect its 160-year history.

Our office is the Gardens and we are seeking dynamic and passionate individuals who want to work with nature, in nature.

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of the arboriculture team responsible for the maintenance of trees and their inventory in the Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG). This entails facilitating tree inspections and assisting with checking completeness and correctness of their records in NParks’ tree management system, MAVEN II, against the collections on site; updating their status and correct details on site and in system accordingly, and their positions with a survey grade GPS.

You will assist with managing the data import of regularly plotted trees into MAVEN II with the Plant Records team.

From time to time, you will also be called on to work with SBG team on Gardens’ events, research, outreach and education programmes.

[What we are looking for]
- ISA Certified Arborist is preferred.
- Enjoy working outdoors.
- Meticulous and systematic in managing data.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office suite.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in plant identification and knowledge is preferred.
