**Overview and purpose of the position** The senior medical technologist (SMT) is responsible for the general management, operations and administration of laboratory to ensure compliance to regulations and accreditation standards. This includes daily routine laboratory operations and works that include phlebotomy, electrocardiogram, spirometry and clinical laboratory work, and to provide timely, quality, accurate and reliable diagnostic laboratory test results to the clinicians for patient management. SMT will work closely with headquarter (HQ) and NUP clinical operations to achieve high quality patient care services. **Accountabilities** Assists Lead of laboratory services in managing operation and administration of laboratory services at the assigned polyclinic - Periodic update of centre activities to Lead/HQ - Monitor and maintain service Key Performance Indicator to be above satisfactory level Ensure full compliance of laboratory practices to accreditation standards - Ensure staff training records are followed up-to-date Ensure full compliance of laboratory practices to accreditation standards - Ensure staff training records are followed up-to-date - Ensure Work Instruction(WI) and policy are duly compliance by staff Manage resources at assigned polyclinic to ensure continuity of services - Consumables and supplies are sufficient - Staff rostering to cover the service need Provide first-line client resolution and relation at assigned centre - Prompt and courteous service to all external and internal clients (patients, doctors, vendors) - Maintain good rapport with NUP colleagues to uphold the vision of OneNUHS - Investigate any incidents report occurring at the assigned centre Coaching and training new staff /students - Demonstrate GLP and biosafety protocols as standard practice - Demonstrate excellent laboratory skills, phlebotomy and other functional skills - Ensure compliance to hand hygiene, workplace safety, International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG) and International Standardization of Organizations Ensure proper record of instrument maintenance and to perform evaluation of new test or instrument. Participate in Work improvement projects - To raise and propose any potential opportunity to streamline workflow or to reduce waste. **Related Performance Indicators** Meet clinical key performance targets > 95% Provide timely management reports to HQ on pre-determined schedule Timely update of WI and policy document Achieve accreditation and audit with no non-conformances
