Research Fellow

A Research Fellow position is currently available in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS).
We are looking for a highly motivated and well-qualified Research Fellow with an interest and a strong background in Quantum Optics and Quantum Technology with expertise in quantum optics experiments. entangled photon source generation and building classical and quantum communication systems for quantum key distribution etc. The Research Fellow will shoulder the responsibility conducting quantum optics experiments, photonics design and simulation, quantum optics design and simulation, system integration as well as performing data analysis and data interpretation of quantum optics and optoelectronic experiments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for conducting quantum optics experiments, photonics design and simulation, quantum optics design and simulation, system integration.- To setup and align optical beamlines/setups for quantum optics and optoelectronic experiments (Daily operation)- To conduct quantum optics experiments (Daily operation)- To conduct photonics design, quantum optics design, simulation and system integration (Daily operation)- To perform data analysis and data interpretation of quantum optics and optoelectronic experiments independently (2-3 times weekly)- To assist the principal investigator with the writing of progress reports (quarterly or half yearly)- To assist the principal investigator with the writing of research grants (half yearly)- To assist the principal investigator in the supervision and mentoring of a small research team comprising of post-graduate students and undergraduate students (One graduate student, UG student report to him/her)
Job Requirements:
- PhD Degree in Physics, Quantum Optics or Quantum Engineering.- Experience in photonics, quantum optics, lasers, quantum communication, quantum optics and photonics design and system integration is essential.- Experience in quantum optics experiments. entangled photon source generation.- Experience in building classical and quantum communication systems for quantum key distribution- Experience in photonics design and simulation using Lumerical- Experience in quantum optics and simulation using Python.- Publication track record in quantum optics experiments
