**Nomura Overview**

**Function Overview**

Regional data privacy counsel role sitting within the Legal, Compliance and Controls (LCC) function in the Asia ex-Japan region. Playing a key role in ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy laws and regulations applicable to the Nomura entities in the Asia ex-Japan region***

**Responsibilities**:

- Developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and templates relating to data privacy
- Working with local country counsels to provide data privacy advisory support to internal stakeholders on projects and ad-hoc queries to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws and internal policies, including reviewing privacy impact assessments, data protection agreements, data privacy related documentation, disclosures and communications
- Advising about recommended changes to data privacy framework where appropriate, and assisting internal stakeholders with implementation
- Serving as the regional contact point for other regions in relation to data protection matters
- Serving as contact point, or collaborating with local data protection officers where applicable to serve as contact point, on interactions with relevant data privacy supervisory authorities
- Assisting with the development and implementation of data protection training
- Monitoring data privacy market practices, developments and changes to local personal data privacy laws and regulatory guidance

**Job Requirements**:

- Minimum 8+ PQE lawyer, qualified in a common law jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated experience advising companies on the implementation of data privacy laws throughout the AEJ region, experience in the financial services industry strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Experience of successfully operating in a matrix environment with key stakeholders from multiple functions
