Head of Freight

You will be a trusted leader to our Freight team, trusted with bringing Secretlab’s products to customers across over 60 countries worldwide. In this role, you will be accountable to the Exec team for the Freight department’s deliverables; this includes operational performance, P&L optimization, and vendor relations (Forwarders, Shipping Agents, Technologies/ Tools Providers). You should bring expertise in sea, rail, and air freight, leading our efforts in navigating the highly dynamic ecommerce space and challenging global supply chain climate.
- Our Freight team is essential for enhancing our customers’ experience and supporting key partnerships programs with world-renowned brands such as Game of Thrones, Batman, Cloud9, Team Secret, as well as international esports organisers such as Riot Games for their League of Legends global tournaments.**Responsibilities**
- Take ownership of the Freight team’s performance, being chiefly responsible of the workstream and relevant dependencies
- Own the growth and performance of Secretlab’s Freight (sea, rail, air) function in the areas of resourcing, team structuring & development, technology adoption/ implementation (e.g. TMS, BI Tools, etc.), and any other factors for success.
- Lead top-level Freight Management tactics - identifying opportunities to gain competitive advantages for the organization
- Be the function’s key advisor and partner to the executive team and other leaders in the business, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Collaborate with key leaders in the freight team to define Secretlab’s supplier/ vendor management strategy, you should:

- Shape the vendor process (sourcing, selection criteria, costing strategy, KPIs, onboarding, reporting, etc.)
- Act as the key figurehead to vendors where necessary.
- Ensure that Regional freight teams have sufficient resources to deliver the business’ objectives
- Actively partner the business in driving proactive interdepartmental communications and managing dependencies to ensure a smooth flow of operations
- Lead partner performance management & optimisation,
- Monitoring and reporting on key performance metrics/ targets
- Be chiefly responsible for Freight cost and resource utilisation
- Implementation of new dashboards and relevant tools, as necessary
- Define Secretlab’s approach to exception and escalation management, anticipating (where possible) and navigating high-level potential Freight challenges
- Provide inspired leadership for the freight team, collaborating with and nurturing sub-department leaders to effectively build a high performing team while promoting a healthy team culture
- Act as a role model for the team and others in the company
- Manage junior and middle leaders in the team, including delegating and coaching decision-making and leadership responsibilities

**Requirements**:

- At least 6-8 years’ relevant experience, with 2-3 years of successfully leading global freight strategy & operations for a company of relevant scale
- Prior experience with a high growth company, especially in the e-commerce space will be highly advantageous
- Strong network of relationships within the shipping/ freight forwarding industry
- High familiarity with the relevant technologies and tools (TMS, BI, etc.), you should be highly analytical and advocate a data-centric approach to work.
- You should be a natural problem solver, adept with adopting unconventional solutions to navigate challenging circumstances.
- You should be a savvy leader, earning the team’s trust and respect through people-centric management while being highly competent in your field. Experience grooming successful middle managers is highly advantageous.**Start Date**:
