We have a significant presence in Vietnam and are looking to cement and grow key relationships and business opportunities. The Associate Trader/Trader will work to develop the Vietnam energy coal market, which includes building customer relationships and executing physical marketing, sales and trading strategies for energy coal transactions. He/She is also knowledgeable about trade operations in Vietnam and is able to identify opportunities that could enhance local and regional trade portfolio positions.

He/She and has a sound understanding of the commodity and freight markets, hedging strategies and trade finance requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Identify and achieve trading opportunities in Asia Pacific, specifically focusing on the Vietnam market, optimising pricing and operating schedules
- Execute the thermal coal trading strategy in Vietnam in collaboration with the global origination & sourcing strategy, including identifying and structuring secondary and paper trading opportunities where possible with an eye on the global risk position
- Promote the sale of book positions on thermal coal into Vietnam, and possibly developing new sales and procurement channels
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers, brokers, traders, producers and other key stakeholders in Vietnam and beyond as necessary
- Actively provide market insights for Coal and/or even other commodities
- Coordinate with in-house operations team and external counterparties to ensure trades and deliveries are completed, as necessary monitoring shipments at key points of the supply chain
- Manage and develop buyer/supplier relationships with a willingness to travel to mine / processing sites, ports and warehouses

**Education and Qualifications**

**Experience**
- Around 3-8 years working experience in a physical trading house ideally in hard commodities. This is an ideal opportunity for an operations / supply chain specialist to develop into the commercial side
- Graduates with relevant commodities experience in Singapore are welcome to apply
- Understanding of coal and its trading products
- Commercially minded, with a sound understanding of risk exposures
- Good knowledge of the supply chain, shipping and operations (logistics, documentation, etc)

**Skills**
- Ability to speak, read and write Vietnamese at a business level is preferred to communicate with key stakeholders in Vietnam
- Good written and spoken English
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work as key part of a small but high performing global team, as well as under own initiative under pressure
