Senior Manager

**Objective**

To lead and raise the standards and profile of the broking support team (team of estimated five Broking Executives / Senior Broking Executives within Treaty & Facultative/Specialty) with the goal to achieving a standard of technical competency and delivering high quality service to our clients and reinsurers.

Responsible for the preparation and organisation of data & underwriting information to support brokers in renewal/new accounts and to render technical support during the negotiation/placement of contracts. Opportunity to work across all lines of business emanating from the APAC region. In addition, opportunities to handle Technical referrals, wording/slip reviews, semi-complex new/renewal contracts and the on-going management of key client accounts.

**Role Description - to include the following but not limited to**:

- Prepare and organise data & underwriting information for the production of contractual documents - including but not limited to information packs, statistics/results, contracts, slips, endorsements, addendum, EoC, invoices, marketing sheets, premium computations, presentations, etc;
- Technical analysis of statistics and other underwriting information supporting the negotiation and placement of semi-complex (renewal or new) business by the broking team.
- Follow-up and organise signing of contractual documents at the conclusion of placement, leading to the production of the cover notes for Reinsured.
- Preparation of summary term sheets, programme structure charts and the analysis of market support for Treaty & Facultative/Specialty programmes.
- Maintenance of placement correspondence/ documents via e-filing.
- To ensure accurate and timely data input as well as ensuring compliance with relevant Company and Market Rules and Procedures. Ensure that contract certainty is achieved.
- Other incidental duties related to the negotiation and placement of reinsurance contracts.
- Ensure the optimum use of UIBA’s business systems in line with current UIBA business practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues throughout the UIB network to achieve objectives.
- Support brokers in their communications with key clients and reinsurers.
- Maintain, improve and share technical expertise in specialist / technical areas with team members. To maintain a database for wordings and update periodically on any changes per market standards or norm.
- To manage reports and research as required by the brokers / management.
- Actively seek opportunities to improve current internal business processes/services.
- Support and actively promote change initiatives/efforts.
- Provide excellent service delivery that exceeds our client’s expectations.
- Assist Finance Department in management of Credit Control for Treaty & Facultative/Specialty clients and work closely with the brokers in charge in achieving satisfactory Credit Control levels.

Generic Knowledge and Skills Required

1. 5+ years’ experience in Technical reinsurance and accounting knowledge preferably with exposure to both Treaty & Facultative reinsurance (minimum 5 years in reinsurance broking).

2. Obtained Certificate of General Insurance (CGI) or any other insurance related qualifications, certifications according to MAS 502 requirements.

3. Having an analytical mind and a keen eye for details and accuracy.

4. Analysis of treaty renewal data (e.g. Risk profiles, Claims, statistics etc).

5. Ability to carry out duties professionally with a credible approach resulting in an understanding of client and Technical issues.

6. Slip drafting / Contract wordings and knowledge of market norms and requirements.

7. Ability to work independently; yet developing and building a skilled team.

8. High level of business and financial acumen with an understanding of company strategy and plans.

9. Ability to work as an integral part of a team, fostering teamwork and cultivating relationships.

10. Good communications skills with good knowledge on Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
