**STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:Advanced University degree in social sciences
- anthropology, sociology; International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Environmental Science, or other related field, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
**Experience and knowledge**: A minimum of 5 years work/activities with or related to Indigenous Peoples’ communities in food and nutritional security, environmental management, and human rights. Demonstrated experience in the preparation of analytical studies and/or research of characterization of populations and profiling of needs. Experience in developing tools for conducting surveys in the field on issues related to food security and livelihood. Knowledge of and/or possible working experience with the UN system and/or international organizations. Knowledge of WFP is a plus. Broad Understanding of development and humanitarian work and the kind of programming in place. Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples and local community organizations and networks.
**ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT**:
The Indigenous Peoples’ Portfolio at WFP is housed within the Front Office of the Humanitarian and Development Division. The Programme - Humanitarian and Development Division provides strategic and technical guidance, disseminates know-how across humanitarian and development areas and supports Regional Bureaus and Country Offices in the design and implementation of WFP Country Strategic Plans (CSPs).
The Indigenous Peoples Portfolio is global in scope but has a strong regional focus in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
WFP’s Indigenous Peoples’ portfolio focuses on five areas of work:
1) field-based research to identify the food security needs of Indigenous Peoples across regions;
2) evidence-based guidance to ensure a principled and culturally appropriate engagement;
3) capacity strengthening of its employees;
4) outreach to Indigenous Peoples’ communities and partnership building with Indigenous Peoples’ Organizations; and
5) advocacy and engagement in relevant global forums.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)**:
The incumbent is expected to
- Support the development of potential partnerships and contribute to proposal writing aimed at mobilizing resources for the Indigenous Peoples’ portfolio.
- Compile and develop tools to enhance evidence-based knowledge generation.
- Collect and analyze best practices from the field.
- Support development of training materials.
- Ensure the timely delivery of knowledge products and ensure material is made available on related social media sites and with the Indigenous Peoples’ Affinity Group.
- Identify and prepare stories that capture activities on the ground to share on international days celebrating Indigenous Peoples, rural and Indigenous women, people of African descent, humanitarian action, etc.
- Contribute to development of webinars, brown bag events to share WFP’s work with Indigenous Peoples.

- Practices and lessons learned collected from across the regions.
- A set of tools to undertake work in the field with Indigenous Peoples.
- A newsletter of developments within the Indigenous Peoples’ portfolio.
- Articles in collaboration with CAM highlighting thematic and/or human-interest stories related to WFP’s work with Indigenous Peoples.
- Two online events (with RBs/COs and other units) to share WFP’s work with Indigenous Peoples.
- Generic proposal for fund raising.
