Why Join Contribute to the dynamic world of global interest rate trading at OCBC. As an intern, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our trading desk, developing financial models, and uncovering new trading opportunities. You'll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, applying your programming skills and analytical abilities to real-world market challenges.
How you succeed To excel in this role, you'll need to be a proactive, analytical thinker with a strong programming foundation. You'll thrive by taking initiative, embracing new challenges, and collaborating effectively with traders and quantitative analysts. Your ability to automate tasks, analyze data, and communicate effectively will be key to contributing to the success of the desk.
What you do Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining financial models and spreadsheets to support trading strategies.
- Compiling and modeling historical data to identify new trading ideas and opportunities.
- Writing Python code to collect data from Bloomberg for analysis and model development.
- Supporting the desk's daily tasks, including running cash flow and risk reports.
- Collaborating with front office quants and traders to enhance our interest rate pricer and live PnL spreadsheet.
Who you work with OCBC Global Markets encompasses Treasury Advisory and Institutional Sales, Asset Liability Management, Trading, and Business Management. All working together, offering services that enable efficient business operations and enabling customers to focus on growth. Who you are
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
- Possess strong programming skills in VBA and Python.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Excel spreadsheet modeling and data analysis.
- Have the ability to automate tasks and conduct independent data analysis.
- Are willing to commit to a 6-month full-time internship.
- Exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills.
Learning Objectives This internship will provide you with:
- Practical experience in developing and maintaining financial models for interest rate trading.
- Hands-on skills in data analysis, automation, and Bloomberg data extraction.
- Exposure to the daily operations of a dynamic trading desk.
