Application Support Engineer (Production Support)

Location: Central, Singapore (Onsite / Office-based)

Contract Type: 1-Year Contract

Overview

We are looking for an Application Support Engineer (Production Support) to support a large-scale modernisation project (COBOL/Java backend, React frontend) hosted on AWS. You will play a key role in ensuring the modernised systems are operationally ready, stable, and compliant, working closely with project, operations, and infrastructure teams through transition, go-live, and steady-state support. This role suits someone with a strong application operations and production support background who enjoys structured processes, incident/problem management, and collaborating across teams in an enterprise environment.

Top 3 Must-Have Skills

  1. Strong experience in leading application operations and production support for modernisation or large-scale enterprise systems.
  2. Hands-on expertise with COBOL and Java-based applications, including operational readiness for modernisation projects.
  3. Solid knowledge of AWS services, monitoring tools, and ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support transition and operational readiness activities for the modernisation project (COBOL/Java backend, React frontend).
  • Assist in defining and maintaining operational processes, including monitoring, alerting, escalation procedures, and support documentation/runbooks.
  • Work with Business Analysts, developers, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve defects.
  • Contribute to cutover preparation and knowledge transfer, ensuring operations teams are ready to take over after go-live.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and enterprise standards, following established guidelines, risk controls, and governance.
  • Support SLA/OLA tracking and reporting, highlighting breaches or potential risks to the Operations Lead in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP) activities, including test execution, documentation, and follow-up actions under the guidance of the Operations Lead.
  • Prepare service delivery reports, meeting materials, and operational dashboards, providing clear and concise updates to stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in maintenance and support meetings, documenting action items and ensuring closure of follow-up tasks.
  • Assist in exit plan execution, ensuring knowledge capture, documentation, and smooth handover in the event of vendor transition or contract closure.

Additional Skills & Attributes

  • Familiarity with React or other modern frontend applications from an operational/support standpoint is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to incident and problem management.
  • Good understanding of enterprise environments, governance, and control frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation habits for SOPs, reports, dashboards, and support runbooks.
