Opportunity

We are seeking a C3 AI Engineer to join our team, where you will work alongside a multidisciplinary group of engineers and researchers. We are looking for forward-thinking innovators who are passionate about developing and applying AI specifically in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI to real-world defence and security challenges. Your work will directly contribute to the advancement of intelligent decision support, sensemaking, and mission-critical C3 capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI Design & Development: Develop scalable and efficient NLP, Speech and Generative AI services/applications to support information extraction, retrieval, sensemaking and decision support. This includes building, fine-tuning, and deploying deep learning models, including large language models (LLMs), multimodal models, speech processing pipelines and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
  • System Integration & Testing: Lead integration of AI modules and services into larger software systems and conduct comprehensive user testing and validation.
  • MLOps: Manage data pipelines and model lifecycle, ensuring robustness, reliability and scalability of AI services.
  • Edge AI Applications: Optimise AI models for low-latency, resource-constrained environments, ensuring real-time responsiveness and system efficiency.
  • Continuous Innovation: Stay at the forefront of generative AI, NLP, and multi-modal AI developments and drive continuous improvements. Propose and prototype new concepts to keep our capabilities state-of-the-art.
  • Research and Development: Collaborate with research partners and explore emerging trends in areas such as multi-agent systems, knowledge representation and AI validation and verification.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Driven with a strong foundation from, but not limited to, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and AI/ML.
  • Practical experience in developing and deploying NLP, Speech or Generative AI systems, with strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • A resourceful and unyielding self-starter who thrives in a fast evolving environment, with passion for taking ideas from concept to impactful solutions.
  • A team player who values clean, maintainable code, robust documentation, and effective communication.
  • An eager learner who is committed to upskilling and sharing knowledge to elevate the team's capabilities.
  • Ability to influence and lead technical discussions, driving programme success through effective communication and AI expertise.
  • Familiarity with transformer-based models, ML frameworks, API development, version control (Git), and containerisation will be advantageous.
