Library Assistant

Location: West Coast Community Centre

Salary: $14/hour

Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM (5 days/week)

Contract until 31 March 2025

About the Role

We're looking for a Library Assistant to support daily operations. You'll help with book handling, stock management, and light customer service to ensure smooth library functions.

Key Responsibilities

In the Storeroom:

  • Receive, check, and sign off on deliveries from SingPost; report discrepancies to library staff.
  • Scan and arrange returned items neatly in designated areas.
  • Send damaged items back to GEPL via internal dispatch.
  • Conduct stocktakes to ensure sufficient items for daily top-ups.
  • Carry out other storeroom duties as assigned.

In the Library:

  • Conduct visual checks of shelf stock and top up as needed.
  • Reshelve returned and browsed books appropriately.
  • Process books using the portable borrowing station before reshelving.
  • Refill hand sanitizers when required.
  • Provide basic customer service by answering simple enquiries.
  • Support other library duties as instructed.

Requirements

  • Organised, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable with basic scanning/processing equipment.
  • Customer service oriented with a helpful attitude.
