Position Overview:

The FPSO Instrument Engineer will be responsible for the design, specification, installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems onboard FPSO vessels. The successful candidate will ensure that all instrument systems comply with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, playing a crucial role in the reliable and safe operation of the FPSO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Specification: Develop, review, and approve instrument system designs, specifications, and data sheets, including control valves, transmitters, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).

  • Installation & Commissioning: Oversee the installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and schedules.

  • Calibration & Maintenance: Establish and implement calibration procedures and maintenance strategies for instruments, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex instrument and control system issues, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.

  • Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering documents, reports, and drawings related to instrumentation and control systems.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate instrument systems and support operational requirements.

  • Standards & Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, API, ATEX).

  • Safety & Risk Management: Participate in HAZOP, SIL assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments related to instrumentation integrity.

  • Technology Advancement: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in instrumentation and control.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering, preferably in the oil and gas or marine industry, specifically with FPSO or offshore facilities.

  • Strong knowledge of various types of field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters).

  • Proficiency in control systems including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).

  • Familiarity with international instrumentation standards and codes (e.g., ISA, IEC

  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, logic diagrams, and cause and effect charts.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective cross-functional teamwork.

  • Willingness to work in an offshore environment and adhere to strict safety protocols.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

  • Proficiency in English both written and verbal.

Certification(s):

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., TUV Functional Safety Engineer, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician - CCST) are highly desirable.
